an animal trivia. what is a geoduck?

it doesn't pronounced as geoduck, but gooey-duck. cool rite the name. it's scientific name is Panopea Abrupta or Panopea Generosa. lol

what's a geoduck? take a look at the picture..

It's actually a type of clam if u people dont know.. originated from the Pacific Coast in the US and Canada. It is the largest burrowing clam in the world. It's also known as King Clam or Elephant Trunk Clam.

Life expectancy of this clam is about 146 years old. pretty old.. very old i think for humans.. haha.. Geoducks produce 500 billion eggs at a lifetime.. which is alot.. but not many did make it to adulthood.. which is sad..

these clams are sold in fisherman markets for a hefty price.. about US$ 30/pound.. thats alot of money.. about RM100/pound.. those who have tasted it says its tough, hard to bite.. not delicious at all.. but wat can i say.. it's a delicacy to some people.. LOL..
